Manly & Northern Beaches Local: Making Meditation Mainstream

Welcome to my blog series where I shine the light on Manly & Northern Beaches events that support our local community’s mental health and wellness. The focus of this blog is on Making Meditation Mainstream.

Underlying the addiction, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, relationship problems and trauma that I work with in my Northern Beaches Counselling, Coaching & Psychotherapy Practice is always the question, ‘Who am I really?’ Therapy is about discovering who we really are, underneath our false and adapted self. In psychosynthesis, we use bifocal vision to see that we are both ego and soul.

To find that still and soulful place inside, we must turn inwards.

I love this new Manly initiative, Making Meditation Mainstream by Jason Partington!

Jason writes,

“Meditation is becoming more and more popular in the Western World. The benefits of it are now more publicised than ever before.

It is my firm belief that if everyone meditated, we would indeed have a very different world that we now currently have.

Power and Money remain the goals of the far majority of our human population which is driven by EGO. This EGO is like trying to fill a bucket with no bottom – it can never be filled – and as a result, we as a human race can never have enough.

We have to have more.

It is my goal through this group and my other course (Meditation for Men) to de-mystify and break down the stereotypes associated with mediation so that more and more people access its benefits.

If more people accessed their TRUE SELF through meditation, and naturally allowed IT to become the ‘driver’ rather than the EGO, then daily decisions would be made differently, relationships would be enriched, a focus on the present moment and a state of inner happiness and peace would remain.

My goal is to make MEDITATION as normal as going to a gym class.”

MAKING MEDITATION MAINSTREAM – Saturday Beach Sessions at 6.30am. FREE.

Every Saturday morning from July 6, there will be a free meditation on Manly Beach. This weekly meditation is for everyone, especially if you are a beginner!

If you can’t make it to Manly, there are two other locations on the Northern Beaches – Avalon Beach and Narrabeen Beach. You can find more information on the Making Meditation Mainstream Facebook page.
